Stupid critics

This movie is amazing. It makes me laugh a bit, and has made me cry many many times. I value this as Matthau's final role, and it makes me miss him more and more each time I see it. Thank you Keaton for making this gem.

I found it funny and abusive. I think the jokes missed their mark with the dad character. And for all the yelling that he loved his wife, he wanted to hurt her for leaving him. But they didn't have time for that backstory, so it's just hanging out there. Then I didn't understand why they brought in Omar's character. Yes, the lead needed a mom, but what was the significance of the polictical statement? Things are always worst for someone else? She didn't need that to show compassion, in my opinion.

I liked it the first time I saw it because I saw a woman damaged by love. But today, it's just bad, in my opinion. There was no love shown in most of the story. Had they better identified what the characters were feeling I might like it better. They wanted you to care about the sisters, but the heavy handed approach to force us to accept them turns me off today. So many competing human behaviors that I didn't know what to believe, what to rally for.

If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world
