Oh, brother!

I watched this movie last night. As much as I like it, I have to say that the amount of times Icabod and Katrina faint is just plain ridiculous. At the end, when Icabod faints for the final time, I found myself thinking: Op! Wait, Katrina! You forgot to faint!

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Pretty sure she only faints once.

Twice, actually. The second time, I thought, was ridiculous. She should've been knocked on the head instead.

I'll have to watch it again. I remember her fainting in the church when her father is called, but I didn't remember a second time.

And it's obviously meant to be ridiculous. At least with Ichabod it is. He is the hero but, like the Ichabod from the original story, he is a fearful and squeamish. I think especially when he faints at the end it's clearly played for a final laugh. After braving that whole final chase, battle, being shot and throwing a skull to be reanimated atop a ghoulish slasher, and coming out of that in one piece, he still succumbs to his skittishness. It always made me laugh.

The second time Katrina fainted was in response to the revelation that her stepmother was alive and that she (the stepmother) was the person who was calling on the Horseman to murder all of those people.

C'mon. Ichabod fainting when he was telling of his sighting of The Headless Horseman was just priceless. Just the thought made him tap out.

Idk, I found his fainting so many times funny, along with his being terrified of a spider.

I was just about to post the same thing!

I also found his character humorous at times, which I don't think that is the mood they were going for.

With Icabod, all the things happening to him were against his atheistic worldview. The last scene where he faints for the final time is due to exhaustion (of immense relief) and finally resolving the investigation at Sleepy Hollow.

I submit it was also intentionally comedic to have Icabod faint constantly through out the film, as it has a light slapstick undertone beneath the thriller/horror/fantasy atmosphere.
