The timing of Lady Van Tassel staging her fake death was quite interesting to me.

As we saw when the Horseman started attacking at the town meeting in the church, he couldn't enter the hallowed ground.

So, knowing in advance about the meeting taking place there, Lady Van Tassel planned for her death to take place when she and Baltus were supposed to be on their way to the meeting to cover up her involvement with the Horseman. As a witch, surely she wouldn't have been able to cross onto the hallowed ground?...

I know that might sound unlikely since in this community religion was a big component and she would have been a regular churchgoer as the apparent good natured wife of a powerful man in town and her fake death was ultimately to put us off her trail because we thought she had been murdered rather than being a witch in control of the Horseman, but it was just something that struck me.

Why do you conclude that? Katrina was also a witch and she was able to enter the hallowed ground. The Horseman was a supernatural, undead, demonic creature, I'm sure that's the reason he couldn't cross it.

It was just a thought about why she staged her death just before the meeting at the church. But it also could have just been to make Baltus run away so she could send the Horseman after him as she had to use his skull and couldn't let Baltus see her - plus, as I said before, it made us believe she was dead instead of being the ringleader.

I wasn't concluding that, it was just a theory about it because straight after we see that the Horseman can't enter. Sorry for thinking that as a witch, Lady Van Tassel couldn't enter either. Valid point about Katrina, but like I said, I was just sharing a thought.
