There's a scene, where a sergeant crosses a bridge and is then ambushed. After getting hit several times sergeants falls to stream below. Later, when the situation is over and rest of the platoon has retreated, to their surprise guards can see the wounded and wet sergeant limping to their direction. Sergeant is sent back and we can later see, that he survived without a doubt.

As movie follows loosely what happened to their equivalents in real life, this is one of the happenings which really took place. The sergeant got hit several times, fell in to a river, then made his way back to the platoon and survived the war.
