Macy.....

SPOILERS (KINDA)

I know William H. Macy is always great, but I was not expecting such a wonderful performance in a smaller movie that is not as known or as big as it could be. His portrayal of the sheriff was simple, honest, humble, and sweet. The smile on his face and seeing how happy he is to be dating when he's dancing with the man he thinks is gay just about killed me, but what really got me was after he's been rejected, so to speak, and he's sitting alone crying to himself, with the rabbit's foot clutched in his hand. It was so unexpected for a comedy and it was totally heartbreaking. It just got me. Macy's amazing.

His performace was very unexpected. It was beautifully tragic and he really had me feeling sorry for Chappy. He was so believable it was painful to see him so upset.

William H. Macy is always wonderful in small independent movies. BUT... He out did himself in this movie. He is absolutely wonderful in this movies.

Don't yell at me, it's sounds like your problem. Not mine.

His crying was very unbelievable, and his continued crying when he spots the car at the bank was a little sad yet funny. He is so good. But what killed my spirit was when Steve gave Chappy his rabbits foot back and then called him many names because of the guy being behind the door with the gun. I understood why he was saying thoes bad things to Chappy but that was so cruel and mean hearted! You could just see the hurt in Macy's eyes.

You know...
I have recently joined Netflix, and I was in a William H. Macy mood. I had never heard of this movie, but thought, it could be good, since I like William.
I had to buy this movie.
And, just for the scene when he was dancing with the guy, and the ending, when he's holding fingers with Ron Perlman.
William steals everything he's in.
Now, I hope Mystery Men is good...

Watching this we were reminded how naturally excellent Macy is in any role. (He uplifts pedestrian stuff like Cellular.) The scene where Steve returns the rabbit's foot is heartbreaking, a testament to how convincing Macy is.

I'm sure you've seen The Cooler, but if not that's also a must for Macy fans.

OMG... I found that scene after his cruel rejection so heartbreaking (I was crying along with him), perhaps more so because I was not expecting it. Even in that small role, I genuinely liked Macy's character and was hoping for happiness for him. I felt more emotion for the tragedy of that scene in this obscure comedy than in the entirety of Academy Award winning Brokeback Mountain.

It's really a tribute to William H. Macy that his acting could evoke such emotions and that so many people noticed. He's a great actor.

When this rejecting then crying scene come I just turn it down and pretend to do something else. It kills me. William H. Macy was just amazing in this one.

I just finished watching it; to think that 15 minutes into the movie I almost turned it off, cause it seemed like another dime-a-dozen screwball comedy.
I'm so glad I didn't because the scenes where Macy gets rejected and where he's crying are among the most moving I've seen on film, they broke my heart. The entire movie is worth viewing for those two scenes alone. I kept rewinding and pausing on his facial expression.
Those eyes....absolutely beautiful.

If he approached me like that, I'd be all in.
