I thought it was one the worst films I've ever seen. There were only 2 funny moments (and they were ABSOLUTELY hilarious), but they were both within 5 minutes of each other. It's a while since I saw it, but the bit where the Mayor gets shot and he says "I've been hurt worse today!" referring to the fact the other guy rejected him...and there was a part I vaguely remember involving shooting behind a post-box.

WRONG!!!
This movie is hilarious! Especially the part at the beginning where Steve Zahn goes, "Why did the armadillo cross the road?" then he holds up the dead armadillo and says, "He didn't - see?"
Ha ha ha ha ha!
And also the part where he tries to teach the little girls to dance when HE can't even dance!

ummm.... I LOVE RONNIE, I LOVE RON PERLMAN!!!

I just saw this. It reminded me a little of Raising Arizona. It was a good-natured placing of the idea of gay guys in a redneck world, and having fun with what happens. Steve Zahn played one of his usual cool characters, and Jeremy Northam was just irresistable as his handsome partner.

I love William H. Macy in this film, he's so cute, especially during his 'date' with Jeremy Northam.

reply

I blindly bought the DVD without reading any reviews first, thinking "Hey, it's got William H. Macy on the cover! It can't be that bad!". Well, I was wrong.

So I guess I slightly disagree with the author.

Steve Zahn is awesome as Wayne Wayne Wayne Jr. I've seen this movie at least twice now, it is very hilarious!

I saw this movie years ago and have been telling all of my friends to see it. They all thank me for suggesting it. I think it is one of the funnier movies I have ever seen other than Raising Arizona.

It's not funny in the slightest, it's an absolute mess of a film.

What a fun film. Zahn is great in everything he does, and watching again this morning we admired William H. Macy's effortless performance (as always).

reply

I heartily agree -- it's hilarious. Zahn's tutoring his "students" had me laughing until I couldn't breathe.

Before I came to this board, I thought I was the only one in love with Happy, Texas. My sister called me obsessed when I would always watch it every time it played on Comedy Central!

I became a fan of Steve Zahn, who was freakin hilarious!!!! I laughed so hard the first time I watched it, I had to pause the movie after seeing David with the little girl!

William H. Macy is a terrific actor. I wanted to cry during his scene with Jeremy Northam.

Alright, I'm done blabbing!!!!!
