He directed. i wouldnt know if he developed the project or was just offered. My guess the later. Just to add to a resume I guess. Not like anyone saw it.

Maybe he found the material terrific and wanted to create a classic coming of age that many of us experienced. Maybe you weren't there in the 1950s. It was more this film than it was Happy Days.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!

Maybe it's this: in the early days of Seinfeld he made his character kind of a caricature of Woody Allen. Then he directed a Woody Allen type of film.

Actually, according to the film commentary, Jean Doumanian -- a great friend of Woody Allen -- was the producer of this film and a big fan of the Seinfeld show. She saw the George character and wanted him to direct.
