7th Guest The Film

Hello there,

I have been told by many scources that the Game 7th Guest was based on a film which was banned before any release, this seemed odd to me as the game is not credited to a film nor is any information available about its origins. the past 7 years I have met several people who will swear by the films existance and I have met one person who claimed to have seen it. I know the film is not called 7th guest but the story and art of the game reflect the film to detail. Small bits of information such as The film being around 6 hours long and the entirety of Moonlight Sinarta beign played before every death scene, I have only collected through word of mouth. (if this sounds famillier please let me know). The only written documentaion of the films existance I have found was a small paragraph claiming the last coppies of the film that inspired the game were destroyed in the 1980s; which seems extrordinary. If anyone else has heard of the films existance please let me know; even if you have no information about it. any information on the film would be greatfully appreciated and purhaps I can track it down someday. If it ever existed.

thanks to all,
Aidan.

I remmember this game, very eery and perplexing, what you have said is quite intriguing its something thats been mulling in the back of my mind for awhile as i write the occasional short story, i think i will research this as well as it seems like a good omen that the day you wrote your post was on my birthday exactly ten years to the day that i completed the game

As far as I know, Rob Landeros stated repeatedly that the game is just inspired by "classic Hollywood Horror movies", like "The House on Haunted Hill" (1963) and such. The only interview I could find on short notice where he mentions that is here:

I find that little story about that banned movie very interesting and mysterious, but unless anyone can give a bit of more "solid" information, I would rather guess that it's a little story fitting the shadowy atmosphere of the game, but nothing more.

Regards,
Daniel

Still haven't found the movie?

I've been thinking a lot of times to myself "I hope there is a movie which the 7th Guest is based on or visa versa", so I really hope that your story turns out to be correct. It would make one hell of a movie. :)

I'd like to see Uwe Boll get his hands on this... just let him try and I'll be waiting with my sniper rifle.

I agree with you t van rossum, it would be a great movie, as long as it had the right charectars and director, i wonder who would act as Henry Stauf, maybe Anthony Hopkins...

I was thinking the exact same thing just now! :D

But I think Anthony Hopkins would be too nice, he's had too many movies where he plays the good guy. And I think that's more his role of choice also; I personnally also see him more that way, although he is the best actor of alltime in my humble opinion.

You think Hannibal Lecter was "nice?"

That's the exception that proves the rule. ;)
