SEASON ONE IS NUMBER ONE AS IT FEATURES DOYLE...THE OTHERS ALL MIXED TOGETHER IN MY HEAD...GONNA HAVE TO REWATCH ANGEL SOME DAY.

I used to have that exact thought. Yet upon my last rewatch, when Gleen Quinn left the show and Alexis Denisof showed up...Wesley brought something much better to the show than Doyle ever did. He was highly intelligent, well-learned and versed in supernatural, a bit of a dweeb, yet also calm under fire and quite tough when he needed to be. When you go to rewatch, pay attention to how Wesley handles the men who impregnate women using a demons essence. Its an early first season episode, and Wesley is already a Bad@ss!

I like Doyle still, dont get me wrong, but Wesley changed the show in such a positive way.

Im happy to see a couple of people here rank season 4 as their favorite. I use to LOATHE that season because of Connors whining, and Cordelia's betrayal and character assassination by Whedon. Yet...The last two times I rewatched the series, I realized that season 4 had so much going on in the positive. The BEAST was my all time favorite villain from either Buffy or Angel. In terms of a monster that the gang has to fight, he brought some real gravitas and looming doom than anyone else! We got to see Angelus break loose for some time and Boreanaz had a blast playing him as you can see on screen. Faith showed up and was a redeemed fighter. And their were some episodes that had cool storylines.

Its hard for me to rate all the seasons against eachother as each season had something I loved in them. All I can write for certain, is that my all time favorite season is 5. We got to see every character at their best and most matured state. Everyone grew into the powerhouse fighter they were destined to become ever since they began helping Angel and fighting by his side.
