Dawn Summers

Anyone think Buffy should have punished her with a scourging?

reply

I wish she's sent Dawn to LA after finding out they weren't really releated. This setting up her and Connor meeting.

reply

Did not like her. She was added to try and regain 'teen' appeal and because somebody who could 'whine' with their manager until they got a part. But it was too hastily written. And because she was written in--Joyce had to be written out. It just did not fit with the series.

reply

It worked though because Buffy was growing up and Joyce was already slowly moving more and more out of the picture besides a visit here and there.

reply

No it did not work. They needed another angle. Like not killing off deputy mayor and her getting good job @ City hall through the sorta-hot 'older' boyfriend who has connections and is trying to amend his sorta evil past having worked w mayor.

reply

I doubt anyone cared much for the Mayor.

reply

The Deputy Mayor was the human who felt bad about what they had done. he was the human who went to warn the gang...but was accidentally staked.

The Deputy Mayor being human could have taken Buffy out into the sunlight both with the means to pay bills and then physically. He understood what those monsters actually were and what it really took to eliminate them.

Deputy Mayor wasn't the same as Mayor. Two different characters

reply

Ohh ok. I don't remember that character at all so I'll have to re-watch at some point.

Dawn really didn't have much of a purpose. She's supposed to be this key yet she had no powers. No strength, magic or anything. She was just a normal teenager that the show brought in just so they could have an excuse to do high school scenes again. Why is that supposed to be interesting compared to Buffy's time as a student again?

Doesn't sound like they really thought it through to me. I think it would have been more interesting if they had Dawn as Glorys sister instead. Imo those two had more chemistry in their brief scenes together than Dawn ever had with Buffy. So that might have benefited both characters better depending on where the show would have taken the story from there.

Never really understood why Glory was so evil anyways. She seemed quite likable like another Cordelia, but unlike Cordy Glory didn't have much of anyone other than her minions. I'd have liked to see her paired with vampire Harmony and have Dawn be that piece to really bring a good side out of her then have Buffy's role in it be to do what's best for saving the world so in the end like helping Glory see the potential in staying.

Having her fighting with Buffy against Caleb would have only made that even more interesting to me. But oh well, they just wanted Glory to be a big bad for that specific season.

reply

No they had brought on a new crop of writers who had no idea what things were/what was going on. Dawn should have died off--been forgotten having been Glory's sister.
