anyone remember it?

I have a very very vague memory of this film being advertised in the UK in the late 1970s. I know it was something to do with a child dying of leukemia and the advert featured a fairground scene. I also had no idea that the film was italian and that it was made in 1973 so there was either a delayed release for the UK or it was a rerelease ( i was at junior school at the time so i would guess this film was released some time between 1977-1980).

Does anyone remember this film at all? was it dubbed or subtitled? was it any good?

we had a copy of it on VHS but i never watched it in its entirety. i only remember the end, the fairground scene which struck me so much. i must have been about 8 or 9 when i watched it. torturous, really sad. i'd love to see it again and fully understand the film.

I remember this film too. I think I actually went with a friend to see it in the cinema. It was so incredibly sad I've never wanted to see any film of that sort again. And yes, I do remember the fairground scene. I had no idea it was Italian either and don't remember it being subtitled. I can only imagine it must have been dubbed.

Yes I do remember seeing this film aged about 11 at the local ABC Cinemas in Cheltenham - now defunct. The film was showing as part of the childrens film mornings every Saturday morning where you paid about 50p and saw one long film and some cartoons including short films from the Childrens Film Foundation! I remember the boy dying from leukaemia and crying buckets!! Also I remember the fairground and the sopy music. A classic

Trevor,
ditto ditto ditto ditto....and ditto!
All I can add to that is I remember seeing it as a little kid as a double matinee in at Gants Hill, Essex cinema. The other film was called 'E Lollipop', another movie that I knew the title of and a few key scenes but that was it. It was renamed 'Forever Young, Forever Free' and I can't believe I found it again, 30 years later. As with this film, I had no idea it was Italian either. I remember some nice bloke opens up a fairground especially for this dying boy, and also a scene where he's skiing and someone points out that his nose is bleeding which they think is because of the high altitude. Man, memories.

I was dragged along to our local cinema mid to late 1970's by my mum who was "desperate" to see this tearjerker.
To be honest I was expecting very little (being the typical 10-11 year old!) but I have to admit that the film was surprisingly watchable (& dare I say it) quite good too!
It was about a single father with his new partner & she was forever trying to win over the love of his son & yet he was having none of it.
Later in the film the son was diagnosed with leukaemia & he was even more dismissive of the woman & the very last scene in the movie was of father & very ill son on some fairground ride & the son looks at his father & says "dad I will never see you again" before dying in his father's arms.
I have honestly never seen so many people leave the cinema sobbing their hearts out (me included!) & in a perverse sort of way I would love to see the film again just to see how it holds up after all these years-Along with my emotions too that is!
As far as I am aware it has never been shown on any UK tv channels though.
In the end my mum actually hated this film because it was dubbed at our cinema (I remember her saying that "the actors' mouths did not match the dialogue" as she had not realise that it was originally a foreign language film) but being a young kid I did not appreciate that until later-I mean hell I didn't even know that the country in the film was Italy!!!!!!
As said I would love to see it again......

I read your post on "Last Snows Of Spring" and it struck a chord! I went to the pics to see it in the late 70s...was surprised to see it was made in 74..it was a double bill with "Last feelings" and "Last Moments" but this is the saddest one I think

I didnt even realise it was dubbed until I saw later at a much older age...its still good, music and some scenes a bit dated but..my god..that fairground scene!

Copies are floating about on ebay on both Video/Dvd

Cheers

It was dubbed. I always associate this film with "Last Feelings" another Italian dubbed film. Blubbered at both in the late '70s.
