VHS? DVD?

I saw this movie three times when it was playing at the Foundry in DC. I loved it. I've looked for it several times on DVD and VHS, but I don't think it was ever released.

Dave Barnett and I coresponded back in 1999. I wonder if he's at the same address. Hmm...

I'm looking for this movie also. When searching the internet I got an ad that says you can download The Last Big Thing from http://movie-downloads.moviesindeed.com/, but I was suspicious so I didn't try it (you have to sign up for a membership). If anyone does try it let us know if you can download The Last Big Thing.

I remember this being a pretty funny and unique film. I saw it a long time ago, on late night cable and I was half drunk, so I don't remember many details. I do remember that there was a scence where they all went to a comedy club and "kawed" like crows, they drank a lot of beer, they lived in the suburbs, and liked to stare at a shiny trash can.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy? If you have a copy and would consider making me a copy I could pay you to ship it to me, thanks.

Just a quick aside... they didn't caw like crows. They said "ca." The idea being that instead of saying "ha, ha, ha," they were saying "ca, ca, ca" like "ca-ca," indicating that the comic was spouting crap. Just thought I'd add that.

I saw this on cable several years ago (pretty sure it was arouns 99) and thought it was a great film. The movie had me sold when he started poking holes in his car for "aesthetic reasons."

Really a good film, some have detracted saying it's message is too caked on, but I really found the comedic aspects of this one to be the true draw. While I did love the anarchic and non-conformist spirit, I found that to mostly just be a set-up for jokes, much in the same manner that The Big Lebowski is more than a movie about guys who like to bowl.

Has ANYONE came up with anything about when this movie will get released? This is one that doesn't deserve to be doomed to cable TV.

This movie was never sold retail (not that I know of anyway). It played on the Sundance Channel and HBO. There was talk of a DVD back in 2004 on www.thelastbigthing.com forums, but nothing came of it. The closest you'll get to seeing this movie is a low quality DVDrip of a VHS tape of the Sundance Channel (if you look hard enough, you'll find it). It's better than nothing.

This movie reminds me alot of Hal Hartley's "Henry Fool"... but funnier and arguably shot better.

Hi. I have looked and looked for exactly such a download but with no luck! Can you help me with any further ideas or details? Of course, I'm willing to pay whatever it costs to get it.

Hope to hear from you. My email is [email protected]. Thanks much.

just wanted to throw my chips in the pile and say that I too saw this movie on sundance channel six maybe seven years ago and I will always remember it. I loved it and would be happy to see it again. Does anyone know how we could get in touch with the director?

This played twice in three days in Vancouver at a small art-house theatre years back. Took a chance on it the first night & went back for the second screening, I was so impressed. Very original. I still have the color mini-poster for the film that I cut out off of a lamppost near the theatre. And I'm another one wondering what happened to the director & if this will ever see proper home-release...
Maybe a petition on www.petition.org...

This movie has haunted me since I saw it at Cinema 21 in Portland years ago- easily one of the best independent films of the nineties. Why doesn't someone put this thing out on DVD? Dan Zukovic where are you?

reply

Your search for something new from director Dan Zukovic can be fixed by checking out his next film (after 'The Last Big Thing') "Dark Arc" 2005 played in Seattle in 2007 at the Grand Illusion Indie Theater.

I have not seen a DVD release of either film, but I'm sure "Last Big Thing" will release, because I will do it, if no-one else releases it.
