Yeah...seeing as how this movie was cheap as hell.
I don't know why so many people find this movie so disturbing, it's cheap, old, & is soooo fake looking.

The thing i dont get is how some people can claim this looks fake. I personally feel that it is the most realistic gore I've ever seen, but either way, how can anyone be sure if it looks fake or not? I mean, have you ever actually seen a real human being dismembered?

^ *beep* Thank you. I'm blown away at some people's responses to the amazing gore effects in this film. If this looks so fake and old, please point me in the direction of something more realistic. I seriously doubt you can.

I was kinda surprised by the gore,but I thought Charlie Sheen was an idiot for thinking it was a real snuff.

but it had that bad acting pull

Um.. it's pretty obvious that the gore is fake, the skin is waaaay too elastic and rubbery when he pulls her hand off.

as you would know exactly what it looks like when someone's hand is actually pulled off...

anyway i'm pretty sure charlie sheen only actually saw part of it, he was stupid for jumping to conclusions like that, but that might explain why.

i dont really understand how you come on this movie, watch it then think its real. Like how does charlie sheen see this not having any clue what it is, watch it and actually think its real. Only someone really dumb could think that, and I guess charlie Sheen is one of those people, but didnt they call the makers in to prove it wasn't real just like cannibal holocaust? Maybe the FBI is just as inept as Charlie Sheen.

FBI agent Dan Codling informed them that the FBI and the Japanese authorities were already investigating the film makers, who were repeatedly interviewed by the Japanese police and eventually summoned to court to prove that the special effects were indeed fake. "

As you can see not just the American authorities as yo can see not only the American authorities were convinced it was real.

You can only assume that it must have been some grainy, third-generation VHS copy without any artwork that might have convinced poor old Charlie it was the real deal. He's had an interesting life though, hasn't he? He might have been benefitting from some pharmaceutical enhancement when he watched it.

It's deliberately made to look like a snuff film, and the special effects were reasonably good with the budget they had. But it doesn't look real, it really doesn't. It is fun though...

Lol Imagine though if he had seen August Underground. I read that Fred Vogel was actually detained by I think it was Canadian customs because he brought a bunch of copies of it into Canada and they thought he was distributing snuff films.

He saw the movie in 1991. That is 20 years ago. Special Effects back then were not in general as good as they are today so I can understand why Charlie did react when he saw the movie.

Yeah and must have thought psychos also OBVIOUSLY black out some of their perfectly normal white teeth with what looks only like cheap boot polish. Yep, looked real, right there.
