Final 12 minutes (spoilers)

Let me just state, I find that as an attempt at a fake snuff film the first film is superior (personally I find the best example I've seen is the documentary scenes in Cannibal Holocaust but thats just me) but I found that as a creepy horror film this is far superior.

I found it gruesome but undeserved of its reputation until after the head came off. The final scenes of the killer playing with the head, posing with the corpse and showing off his "collection" whilst ranting and hooting set in a creepiness that the actual gory violence hadn't brought.

I finished the film and was mildly creeped out at first, then about 10 minutes later it really set in.

Who'd have thought that a film often touted as a gory effects reel would actually be most disturbing in its scenes without violence.

Gotta agree with you there. The final scenes are really disturbing, especially the one with the almost decomposed head with all the maggots crawling on it, just great. And with him singing his creepy song in the background that just unnatural... This movie just proves that the Japanese are still the ones who make the most *beep* up movies after all. Just look at All Night Long or Niku Daruma( aka Psycho the snuff reels)

i find it strange as well that if you look at it in the right way this film is actually a love story
it is an example of what is repulsive to one person can be a work of art to someone else, for example the way he lovingly admires her in her final dismembered form and the way he carefully transfers each part to his collection (a collection it is obvious he has immense pride in)
and his first speech describing the way the blood flows across her body

his behaviour is the contradiction of what you would expect from a 'madman'
he ensures she feels no pain and even goes so far to make it a pleasurable experience for her by giving her the drugs and he performs each procedure methodically and carefully, describing what he will do in each chapter, i really enjoyed this film and for such a low budget, the prosthetic effects were amazing

His behavior is the contradiction of what you'd expect from a madman? You must not have taken any classes on psychology.

Soz, my bad I didn't make it clear that when I said madman I meant as in a stereotypical movie madman
