I didn't see the beginning of the movie- but, the elderly woman was rich, wasn't she?!? Another reason I'm asking is because the Big house or Mansion wasn't really hers... & why was she living in an apartment in the back of the main house?

No, the woman was not rich per say but she sure lived like she did. I know this because she was my best friend and I was the real life cabdriver that was the basis for the movie. YES, I SWEAR!! I have been driving taxis and limos for 25 years and never met anyone else like that lady. Her real name was Pat Fry and she lived like she was an heiress and for awhile I really thought she was. She was exactly like she was portrayed in the movie. She had more class than any person that I have ever met in my life. I drove her around the United States, Canada, and Mexico for 5 years until she died. She was the greatest!!!

shareI'm not sure what " the Glen Miller story" means. This lady did tell me her entire life story though. I drove her around the United States and Canada for several years and she never did stop talking ! LOL. Out trip to Canada wasn't even our longest trip . I also drove her from Los Angeles to Graceland , to Chicago, to Cleveland to St. Louis , etc

Pat told me that she and some girlfriends went to see Glenn Miller's last live shows at the Passaic Theater in New Jersey back in 1942. She said they sat there all day show after show crying and eating bologna sandwiches. And I believe it.
She was fun and quirky/kooky. I think I spoke with her a few times in my store in Pasadena.
You should write a book and they should do a new TV film.
