I saw this film as a stepping stone to Refn's better movies. It was ok and interesting, but not essential Refn.

Lenny's story and his almost romance with Lea reminded me of You, the Living. Caught hopelessly between desire and despair. Thankfully Lenny gets a second chance and the hope of a happy ending.

I love and watch over and over the scene in the cafe when he steals glances at Lea. So sweet and innocent.
