Worst Movie In History

This movie is pointless.. It's boring and if it has a message it's a stupid message.. It's all about Kim Bodnia being scary and making a really bad, predictive character, merely based on his scary character in Pusher..

It's crap..

reply

Wow, what a great argumentation! If there is a message it's a stupid message...
I guess if you have to watch a movie and actually think for yourself about it, the movie has to suck!

Kim Bodnia's perfomance is absolutely incredible. He is very convincing and absolutely nerve-wrecking in this role.

How can you ever say that it is based on his character in Pusher? The 2 films are not in any way related to each other except that it features some of the same actors and the direcor is the same!

I love bleeder, mainly because of the way it is shot but also because all the characters are played by great actors!

It's not that I don't like movies that makes you reflect. I don't think reflection makes a movie automaticly better, it all comes down on how the reflection.

The sorry thing with this movie that all about it is really the Emperor's New Clothes.
The director is sewing invisible pieces to the story that you are supposed to reflect on and "analyze". The thing with it is that there is nothing to analyze.
What you get from your analyzing, is just uninteresting or annoying.

The director makes sure you'll that you must "get this movie", without really getting it. Because it seems like "smart" and "academic" so you must get the (pointless) meaning, or else you're not really "film-smart". I'm not even sure the director has any idea what this movie is about. It's just some clichéesque arty minimalism and some vague cinematic references in it that get all the critics going for it. Bodnia also gives us a repeat of his character in Pusher but this time, scary and violent without any motivation.

Some stiff conversation, a stiff pulling-scene, some slackers in a video store, a highly unrealistic display of a relationship, a highly unrealistic display of criminality and violence. This movie demands your imagination to put any kind of context and entertainment between the vague, invisible storylines. What interprentation can you make out of this movie then? Life sucks, People are bad, good ones get punished, life is boring, people are miserable... I'm not entertained, touched, thrilled, scared, or mind-boggled at all. I'm just angry that people like crap like this.

And nothing of this actually makes up for it's slow pace and lack of rythm or climax. Nothing makes up for how stupid, pseudo-smart and boring it is.

Perhaps that's where you failed to relate to the movie at all and couldn't enjoy it. There's nothing deep to analyze in this film. It's mostly about characters and relationships and some mundane things in between. There's not a great amount of symbolism that is essential to understanding the movie and there is no deep message, just drama.

[...]a highly unrealistic display of criminality and violence.

Unrealistic? While somewhat exaggerated at times, this is one of the most realistic portrayals of the kind of irrational trigger that drives people to violence that I've seen.

I've been around this kind of violence and I've seen people become 'infected' by it. I've even witnessed a person who wasn't violent at all (one of the nicest people I've met) become extremely violent after witnessing a fight as though there was something inside of him that just broke inside of his brain that day. He completely snapped and became violent even towards his friends and had to go to a therapist. Until then he never hurt anyone.

I don't know about others, but when I saw this movie for the first time, after in ended, I started to take a walk in the city just for the purpose of seeing other people. Sometimes I feel lonely, and I don't do anything about it besides feeling bad for myself. But after I saw this movie, I wanted to go out and explore the world! I had the same feeling after watching "Taxi Driver" (which also is one of the directors favourite movies). I don't know what it was, but this movie made me feel that my *beep* life wasn't that *beep* after all!

I find it really amazing that you don´t like this movie. I think this was almost as good as Pusher and obviously one of the best movies of Refn. Really great and convincing acting from Bodnia, who plays very well as an soon-to-be-father trying to live under constant presure and Mikkelsen also plays a strong supporting-role. Of course Buric, Jensen, Corfixen and Andersson plays really amazing roles, all of them. Refn really shows his true talent in directing and im really looking forward for his future projects. It´s real, it´s rough, it´s strong. It´s just a amazing movie.

Yeah, no offense, but that was really immature. Must be a typical geek who likes to get on these boards and make really asinine comments. Anyway, I just wanted to wade in on this. How can you say this is the worst film in history? Admittedly, I think Kim Bodnia could out-act 90% of America's thespians, but (him aside) how is this film "the worst"? You complain about Bodnia acting scary: did he scare you? I found Leo to be much more believable than Frank (although I have met plenty of Franks in my time.) Everyone in this film gives really convincing performances. And yes, the graphic scenes are a bit over the top, but that really just adds to the illustrative value of what these people go through. The point isn't something to be "analyzed", it hits you like a kick in the pants! I don't think Refn wanted the viewer to "think deeply" about what goes on; maybe that's why some consider this more for "shock value". It is a pretty straightfoward film though IMO!

reply

Bodnia is excellent, but he choses terrible projects too. Like the Swedish miny series "Snapphanar". I don't agree with the movie hits you in the balls, it doesn't give really much to think about really. There's not muc logic to it.

reply

It wasn't serious. More like irony.cheers

Agreed.

reply

It's not the worst movie in history.
The worst movie in history is Plan 9 from Outer Space
Lenny is wearing a Plan 9 t-shirt in the beginning :)

reply

Hey, I like Plan 9 From Outer Space, it certainly isn't anywhere near "the worst film in history", it's actually very enjoyable! Even Ed Wood did worse films than that!

reply

Refn has an interesting play-like way to introduce the characters in the beginning of the film. The set seems to be much like a modern play - minimality with the locations etc.
The film doesn't have a real message. It's just a nice story that's presented in Refn's way. It's an absurd but yet realistic at the same time - a little like Herzog's films perhaps.
Personally this film was really close to me. It's a movie about movies (and about loving movies) - and the movie itself seems to know that it's a movie.

go *beep* yourself
