Carrie being Kevin's student for two semesters

Is it just me or is it unrealistic for Carrie to be Kevin's student for two semesters or a whole year? The show lasted from September to June and normally in a university, a student has a teacher for one semester (Sept-Dec) then they would have another teacher for the spring semester. I was thinking maybe his class has two parts like Biology A and Biology B.

or maybe carrie took a different class that kevin was teaching. professors usually teach more than one class :)

or different levels of the same class. I've had most of my teachers at uni twice or three times

You can have the same teacher multiple times in a semester and DEFINITELY in a year.
