Dancers who annoyed me. lol

The lightskin brother who thought he was Michael Jackson. He constantly did the same hip-hop skip, "kick" and M.J. spin over and over again. It seemed to be the ONLY dance he knew.

He ALWAYS wore the same get up; a black tux.

There was ANOTHER Michael Jackson wannabe too; he kinda even looked like Michael. He was brown skin with a jeri curl and always shook his hips back and forth real fast. lol

Good lord; these two annoyed the hell outta me. There's a few others. When I think of them; I'll post. lol

That's Louie, one of the Soul Train dancers from the 1980's and I'm using the word "dancer" lightly - Louie must of had the biggest ego on Soul Train. As annoying as he can be, I still enjoy watching him do his thing.

reply

he mite of been annoying at first but throughout the mid to late 80s he was one of the soul train dancer frontmen among others. Louie wasnt the best dancer but he put on a good show. ; )

reply

you just mentioned two of my favorites to watch.

lol there were a few guys on there who wanted to be like Michael Jackson haha! but yeah Louie was one of them, as a little kid I thought he was cool though.

reply

Eww, that guy was obnoxious.

reply

He was a trip. Always doing his MJ kick and then posing.

But he wasn't the only annoying one. Those two guys that always went down the line together doing the popping/locking breakdance routine, with their jheri curl juice swinging everywhere.
And that guy that always wore the costumes...wth!

reply

Oh Otis? haha Otis was cool as hell! He was the Mascot for the show haha

reply

I called him "Costume Man". He was quite good. There is a guy who dances with the Oriental Girl(like they're partners)who also appeared in Rick James "Superfreak" video. His dancing and facial expressions are quite annoying.

she is asian not oriental, she's not property or things, she's a person so she's called asian..I actually thought everyone would know the difference by now.

Thanks

The dude that danced with/twirled/spun his basketball. It looked cool at first, but got tiresome after a while.

Wow! I didn't know Rosie appeared on ST.

the guy in the mid-80s thru early 90s (if I remember), tall, long face, he always threw his hand up in the air and 'pointed' and hopped on one leg, always got on camera, started wearing hats and leather jackets as i recall (musta been losing his hair cuz in the early shows no hats), I saw this dude at a Depeche Mode concert in 1990 and he was in the audience pointing constantly too! I loved to hate him!

reply

the muscled gay looking guy in the 70's.i dont't know he's name.

reply

The guy with all the muscles' name was Bobcat. He was cute but so gay looking. Well...not that it matters, but most of the guys look gay..is that just me?

reply

Nah, you're right, most of the guys looked gay. Maybe I was too young to notice it back in the days (or maybe I was busy watching the ladies).

reply

i didn't know the dancers had names-- :)

I never paid much attention to that..

about the one person I "remember" making it onto another venue was some guy who ended up being a dancer for Bell Biv Devoe, circa 1993.. light skinned guy with a mustache, usually wore sunglasses..

The gay guy in the 70 annoyed me with the spilt in his afro.

reply

Heeeeey, that was the style back then...it does look kinda stupid now, though...LOL.

reply

Yea he was like the gayiest one tho.Throwing his hands in the air.

Louie didnt get on my nerves that much but who I couldnt stand at the time was Rosie Perez I use to call her Piglet Mudd cause she look like a pig to me. One day when she finally left and some real fake azz dancers came on I wish she was back on TV to show how dancing shouldve been done. Also the hootchie coochie woman in the 80's she always on stage with feathers and a sexy outfit dancing slow to fast records lol

reply

I'm 27 so I don't to much remember Soul Train from in the 70's and 80's. In the 90's and early 00's when Soul Train was still airing I do remember the dancers. In the early 90's the dancers didn't bother me then. Later on in the late 90's those girl dancers got on my nerves. They would do the same old dance moves over and over again. You had like maybe 1 or 2 that could dance and would do flips and stuff with their moves. Those other women would just shake their tails constantly and do the same moves.

reply

I know lol. It was just hip and ass shaking with an occasional smile and a hair flip.
