What's worse - Bullard or Popcultured???

Please post your opinions here. One person equals one vote. My vote is that the shows are pretty much a tie. I know that most people say Popcultured but I think a lot of that is because Popcultured is airing on TV right now so it's still fresh, so maybe it just seems worst because of that. Or am I even making sense?

reply

That's hard to say. They are both easily the two worst shows ever made, at least in Canada. Neither one is the least bit funny or original.

reply

Bullard wins EASILY!!!!! Oh man he was an awful host, the guy couldn't tell a joke properly, and I think Popcaultured is actually pretty funny, and a hell of a lot funnier than Bullard!! Man did that guy sucked!

reply

No way, Bullard really sucked but Popcultured is way worse than any other show in the history of the universe. Popcultured with Elvira Kurt sucks the life out of anything it touches!
Now an episode of Popcultured where Elvira Kurt interviews Mike Bullard? That is frightening to even think about.

reply

I cant really make my mind, but i say Bullard is the worst, wow i hated that show,he tought he was so clever and funny by making fun of the audience but he looked like such an amateur comedian and host,a real boring dumbass that couldnt make a young goofy retarded kid laugh much less the audience and even less the viewers, boring interviews and guests.Funny how back in the days when Bullard was someone "hot" Global was all happy to snatch him from CTV or vice versa and then they droped him a year later rofl,go back to your Expressvu and weight loss commercials at least you were funny there Mike! Seriously you were.

Ill say this much about CrapCultured it had better guests so far like Harland Williams, but that doesnt mean that the content is better or worst, actualy i think that the content for CrapCultured is worst being that its supposed to be funny its a humoristic show not so much a variety show like Bullard's,yes Elvira can be funny at times as opposed to Bullard, but all the other people on the show SUCK BIG TIME,especialy the black girl she is so boring.

Man whats the deal with Canadian humor these days, its so boring where is the next generation of funny people...people like the Kids in the Hall,The SCTV's,The SNL's.Seems like most funny Canadians do stand-up in Vegas all year long, some NYC and LA,they show up in Montreal during summer and thats it.
Like Jeremy Hotz and Harland Williams the funniest Canadians right now.
FUBAR was a funny movie but so far the only funny thing i saw on tv recently is "Comedy Inc" which Hotz,Williams and Kurt were once part of,i just saw that recently but never saw them on that show its anew cast.Oh and Trailer Park Boyz were funny from time to time when i used to watch it before Ali G's show a year ago.Of course Just For laughs is great but it doesnt really count since most people are not Canadians. And the pletora of stuff in Quebec but you guys wouldnt know.

I rate Bullard and Popcultured on the same level as the following boring crap:
This Hour as 22 minutes,Royal Canadian Air Farce
We had these kind of *beep* shows way back, but they got cancelled back in 86 in Quebec becuz it wasnt funny anymore,ok maybe its funny to an 86 year old ill give them that.Anyway Red Green Show,Kevin Spencer,Buzz,Puppets who Kill,Corner Gas the list goes on and on,the Canadian Comedy Now special with the most boring unknowns that cant and wont ever do the Just for Laugh, and lets not even talk about
the "Live at the 54" or whatever from Newfoundland or something, people that couldnt get to be curtain jerkers at the yuk yuks or some smaller scale show.
I have yet to see Oddjob Jack, but my gutt feeling is all the celebrety voices means that its a move to cover up the fact that the show sucks.
And what about Steve Smith's playhouse ( a boring 30m ripoff of MST3K).
Who gave this guy another show....? Red Green,New Red Green and now this crap...

Its so boring,i cant stand it,you poor english only speaking Canadians espececialy those stuck with the CBC brand of humor, you dont know what your missing ,there is some trully hilarious *beep* that comes from Quebec and overseas,we have alot of funny stuff in Quebec too numerous to list, thats why Just for Laugh is in Quebec its the biggest and most internationaly known comedy festival but not the only big scale festival around here we have other big one's,just to give you an idea of how many stand-ups,comedian,comics we have per capita we had a few public debates over the years basicaly saying these things:Are there too many comedians in Quebec? Should comedians be allowed to say anything they want? Should we give so much importance to Comedians?
Does it bother you that Comedians have invaded every branch of the entertaiment world? I cant remember exacly but i think its something like 1/3 of the Quebec population are entertainers,music,comedy,movies,tv,entertainers/hosts etc...
Statistics show that people here see more live comedy shows per year than they go to concerts,3 to 4 times a year per couple, its almost like Vegas here.

And just before you go ahead and think im bashing Canada and praising Quebec, wrong i just happen to know what im talking about since im both of French and Brit decent and i watch TV from everywhere if they talk english or french,My 2 fav tv show were from the UK:The Young One's and Bottom with
Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmunston, but sadly i can list only 2 funny guys of the top of my head right now in Anglo Canada and they all work in Vegas:
Harland Williams,Jeremy Hotz...Scary and sad.
Thank god i live in Quebec or else i would go nutts,at least we have our funny people here, even Radio in Quebec is funnier even tho i dont listen to it anymore i know and heard some stuff, they can push the bouderies further becuz of the lack of surveillance by the CRTC.
But like i said i dont like radio anymore french or english since i discovered The Dan and Scott show in early 2000,those 2 hilarious Wisconsin boys were doing the show from NYC at eyada.com.
Its over now, eyada folded in 2001 but it was by far the funniest show ever in entertainment.I still listen to the hundreds of D&S archives from 96 to 2001 everyday and i have yet to find something even remotly as funny or interactive, like others of my kind ill be a freak forever a freak is a listener of the D&S show,if you want to piss your pants you should check it out at www.freakarmy.org in the ftp archives,i even made a sequel to the show called Freakout The Collective Freakshow, where we the listeners are doing the show with new original and old D&S stuff.

Ok back to the topic of Canadian humor...
Unfortunaly right now most of the funny english speaking people or shows that i like alot are from the States and the UK.
Not France they have the worst humor most of it is total crap.
And sadly not Anglo Canada anymore.

Cmon Anglo Canada be funny again,i miss the good ol' 80's and 90's when we used to rule the States with our comedy, every comedy tv show in the States had great canucks,Mad Tv had Will Sasso and most of the time the canucks were the best SNL had to offer, the list is very long in SNL,even In Living Color's funniest guy was a white Canuck by the name of Jim Carrey!

Cmon apply yourselve's
;) lol

Does anyone remember the warm up show with Sean Tweedley? That was a hundred times funnier than both of them combined. It's weird that the warm up show was so much better, why didn't Sean Tweedley just host the stupid show. Probably because he seems like a weasel, or a cheat or something. He's not a very canadian-friendly comedian I guess. The comedy network is a lemon tree, I always stay away from their 'original programming'. Popcultured could be better if Elvira would wipe that grin off her face. You have to seem above those jokes, if you laugh at them I pity you Elvira.

reply

Are you serious? I think Sean Tweedley sucked big time! In fact I think the only reason he got that job is because he was the one guy who wouldn't make Mike Bullard look even worse in comparison. They both sucked and I'm glad neither of them are on TV any more. But I'd give the "worst Canadian comedy show ever" cake to Popcultured if it stays on the air and doesn't get much much better. Right now it's still Bullard's to lose but Popcultured is gaining fast!

reply

Both shows are pathetic and both hosts are equally as bad. Both shows reflect Toronto comedy and probably do well in that market. The rest of Canada and the world at large, do not think these shows are very funny. Mike, a joke does not become any funnier if you repeat the punchline, and Elvira, a smartass attitude still does not make you funny.

I got suckered in with Corner Gas. At first it was like Butterscotch Pudding, I hated it before I even tried it. Then into its third season, I tuned into the "Scrabble" episode where Lacey spells "ojimum" or something on the board, then they cut to a shot of Brent's mother who is wearing a thin little open-sweater thing which won't stay open, and says "this *name of the sweater thing* won't stay open.. it needs some kind of.. ojimum" -- that made me laugh so hard. So I finally watched part of an episode. Then the next couple of episodes had the same kind of hilarious parts. Then after that... nothing. EVERY EPISODE that I have seen after the first three hasn't made me laugh at all, and has just been damn stupid. So I wasted my time trying to give a show a chance that I thought that I had wrongfully turned down, only to realize that I was right all along. I'll give it some credit though, it is clever at least, and some ppl might find it funny, though they really don't do anything "hahaha" funny, just "oh yeah.. that's (kinda) funny" kind-of funny. The problem is that anyone funny we have here migrates to the US (boy I wish the entire US would just die already, so we could replace them with a less war-mongering evil self-righteous ultra-nationalistic anti-anythingthat's-not-US PUZSIES) due to the better audience and economic backbone (aka Jim-Carrey type sellouts who seem to have "forgotten" where they came from and who gave them their start AND where they got their funny from in the first place, yet they never seem to give us the return we deserve). We have the talent, we just need somebody to stay here and make a decent funny show. Mike Bullard was awful, Popcultured isn't so bad when there's nothing else on (and I mean NOTHING!), in the sense that it's comforting to watch in the very least (or most) to see what's going on in the mundane lately (pop culture i mean - crap nobody can use but is at least entertaining), but Popcultured is not funny at all, and sometimes I LITERALLY wonder if there's even an audience there, because I've heard more laughs on an episode of Mike Bullard (only because someone farted in the audience once and the audience laughed, then they went back to watching Mike Bullard suck). Man, he had the WORST GUESTS EVER! Did he ever have a guest who wasn't a nobody? But I'll give him credit, he did admit that most of the guests were nobody's, which was at least good that he wasn't pretending. The biggest guest I ever saw on an episode of Mike Bullard was Len Lesser (aka Uncle Leo from Seinfeld, and I think his name might have even been LEO on Everybody Loves Bad Writing and Bad Actors and Long Stand-Around-and-Wait-for-the-Retarted-Audience-Laugh-About-Something-Stupid-and-Unfunny-Before-We-Continue (aka, Everybody Loves Raymond Suck As Badly As Making a Show As Badly As He Does Standup)).
