Put This Show on Cartoon Network

I remember watching this show when i was about six or seven and in case anyone is wondering...i did see that controversial episode and it didnt effect me in any way one bit. This was a very good cartoon show and well animated for the late 80's and i has a right to be put back on the air. If not on cartoon network than why not on boomerang? they are known for showing countless cartoons from the 60's 70's and 80's so why not this one?

Hell yeah bring it to Adult SWIM its like the Ren and stimpy cartoons of the late 80s for me

Aside from the fact that this isn't a Hanna Barbara creation, I think that it would fit perfectly at Cartoon Network because:

1. Most of the viewers of adult swim are at the age where they will remember and appreciate the humor.

2. Hello !!! Think of some of the funniest moments of any of your favorite adult swim shows. Standards-wise,I think they pass the infamous flower sniffing scene by a mile.

3. I personally think the powers that be had it in for Ralph Bakshi because only a few years later you see the stuff at just about the same level on nickelodeon and those shows had pretty long runs. Bakshi is a pioneer and maverick. Right in step with William Street.

You're damn right penni, though I do think Ralph has never sought the recognition he deserves.

He was fearless and hugely instrumental in allowing animation to flower to new heights.

I agree. They bit Bakshi's whole paradigm for animation. There would be no Adult Swim if it weren't for Bakshi's early contributions.
The reason why they probably won't air The New Adventures on Turner/Cartoon Network is most likely because:

1. Cartoon Network is all gay and most of the people involved are racists.
(And I'm not just saying this, I've actually worked there doing various contract assignments.)
2. It was ahead of it's time and people will start to realize what elements wer stole from his work.

I remember watching the 'cocaine' episode. I don't remember too big an uproar over it, but I do remember wondering where the show went after that. CBS yanked it quick. I heard the cocaine story a few years later. I was about 12 when the episode aired, my mind had not fully grasped the whole cocaine thing, yet.

And I agree... Adult Swim should put this on right after Family Guy (@ 11pm).

Or Cancel Tom Goes To The Mayor - Either one's fine with me.

And knowing Ralph Bakshi and John K., if there is ever a DVD of this to come out - I'll bet theres gonna be some insane outtakes CBS made them cut out of the show.

i saw this episode too, around age 11 or 12.
i loved this show. i think when it got pulled, that ended the usual saturday morning cartoon ritual for me.
i cant remember what else was on earlier, but i remember this show, and 'rude dog and the dweebs' and 'hey vern, its ernest (not a cartoon, but i was a big jim varney fan in 1988), and i think muppet babies was in there somewhere..
anyhow. bakshi is a genius. i LOVE fritz the cat and heavy traffic.
and i was || this close to buying one of his original paintings back when i had six thousand dollars to spend on a painting.

Might Mouse, Pee Wee's Playhouse, and Ed Grimley were my favorites of this era.

When brachiotoxin mentioned Rude Dog And The Dweebs, Hey, Vern (which I completly forgot about) and Muppet Babies, I was struck with a pleasent paroxysm of fond memories of these shows. It was not the titles alone, but rather the reminder of the CBS Saturday morning line up at that time that hit me. I am 28 years old now, and I wish that cartoons could be this good now. Thank you for the flashback. :)

I was at Wal-Mart last night and was digging through the bargain bin and I found a 4 (or 5) DVD collection of cartoons like Betty Boop, Casper, and some others, but MIGHTY MOUSE was also included in the cartoons!! I snatched it up for $5.50!!!

reply

yea, i really don't think those were the same MM cartoons being discussed here.
