Face at grave site

Did anyone notice the face that was depicted in the ground between the two gravestones at the end of the movie? As the picture fads away it gets more and more pronounced. You can tell its supposed to be Madison, with her two eyes, nose, and hair. I've seen this movie about a half dozen times but this is the first time I noticed it.

Apparently it's disputed, but it's there. I vividly remember watching it in the summer of 2001 when it was released on Video here, and I saw the face first time.

There is no disputing it. Many years ago I posted screen shots of the last few frames and enhanced the brightness levels of the image so the face was very apparent. That thread has since been removed.

If people aren't convinced, all they have to do is pause the last few frames and crank up the brightness level, or if they're using a media player, just screen-cap it, then use Photoshop or Gimp to increase the brightness levels of the image. Madison's face becomes immediately noticeable, and rather creepy once you can see it clearly.

Just as Claire thought she could make out a face beneath the water of the lake, the whole "Is there something there or not?" thing was a running theme Robert Zemeckis used throughout the film. So with this in mind, it makes sense he would finish on the same note.
