Why is Michelle's daughter last name same as Norman?

Michelles character Claire had the daughter with her first husband then married Harrison's character Norman Spencer yet the daughter has Normans last name, spencer?

Most likely she changed the last name to Spencer.

Many times, step fathers adopt the children. So he probably adopted her. Or he just happened to have the exact last name.

Kids are often adopted by the step parent, especially when the other parent is dead...which was the case here.

"I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?"

Well i am guessing when she married Norman she changed her daughters surname sigh

Does it matter? The daughter is barely in the film and completely unnecessary plotwise. The character is gratuitous to say the least.
