What regiment is this?

I don't believe it was mentioned in the film, but what regiment were these men a part of? I did notice a brass pin on the sergeant's (Daniel Craig) lapel that said "RF", so I'm thinking Royal Fusileers?

Being an American, I was unsure of the accent. Where in England are they from? I got the impression that they were from the north... either Yorkshire or Lancashire.

A bit late, but...the brass flaming bomb and "RF" brass on their epaulets show that they are indeed the Royal Fusiliers. Accents would vary, they weren't recruited in just on part of England, they were a huge regiment. There were 20 battalions of Royal Fusiliers at the Battle of the Somme alone, over 40 battalions total were raised during the war.

At first I thought they were the Grenadiers as they had the flaming grenade collar badge. Not sure now. The Royal Fusiliers also have a similar collar badge. However they all spoke with northern accents and RFs are a London regiment. Likely to have been the Northumberland Fusileers who fought at all three Battles of the Somme. Then again they could have been the Lancashire Fusiliers.

RF = Royal Fusiliers. By 1916 many units had lost their local identities and men recruited in the north of England might well find themselves allocated to a southern regiment, especially if that regiment was short of men.
