Why did Laney forgave Zack so easily?

Always loved this movie so recently i watched it again after a long time.
I don't mind the usual stuff that gets the hate like cliches, acting and so on,but what bothers me after watching it again is the ending,it is weak.
Yeah i know that it had to be happy ending but i think that Zack got away with everything way too easy and that he didn't deserved Laney's forgivness so easily.

Few examples of his poor actions:
-at the party he clearly saw that Taylor is going to engage in fight with Laney and he just stood there watching instead of reacting and defending Laney
-ran away when they had to kiss in Laney's basement with some stupid excuse, didn't talked to her after that
-ran away from that long eye contact in cafeteria, still not talked to her letting Dean the chance to ask Laney to prom
-never actually asked Laney to prom, when Dean did his answer was that he thought that they are going togher, even if he didn't spoke to Laney for a while, let alone asking her to prom
-again didn't talked to Laney at prom at all, instead he spent the prom and danced with Taylor who was a bitch both to him and Laney at that party
-didn't even properly apologized to Laney

and he gets away with everything like nothing happened. Why did Laney forgave him so easily?

I think appearing naked at his graduation in front of hundreds of people was good enough to show his remorse.

I think she knew he really liked her after getting to know her. He made a stupid mistake before he knew her. Hell I've forgiven much worse if someone approaches me and sincerely apologizes. Like in the movie 'Carrie', I always felt Tommy Ross kinda fell for her sweetness (those guys are used to dealing w bit#ches lol).

I figured it was that Zack got to know her, he opened up to her, befriended her brother, stood up for him, admitted to what he did without making any excuses, and didn't try anything with her.

Dean played her. He only wanted her for sex and didn't care about her at all.

So, in the end, when Zack shows up, contrite, she sees that he actually has feelings for her even though it started off as a bet.

Because she loves him and she can tell that he's truly sorry for what he did.

"Never mind walking a mile in my shoes. Try thinking a day in my head."

reply

Because with such a horrendous personality, she had no other option.

She fell in love with him and knew he was sorry about it. The bet was to make her prom queen so if he didn't want her he didn't need to go back after she already lost. She knew it was a mistake and was before he knew her. And Zack helped her a lot with opening up and being able to express herself. The art teacher tells her that and to hold onto whatever it is giving her this new inspiration.
