There's a really beautiful quote in the movie that I'm trying to figure out if it was original or quoted from some other text.
To paraphrase it was something like:
"And in this journey we go, but in this place we'll stay. If only in the heart where memory of love eternally remains. For I am with you always"

Without re-reading the short story, I'd say that the quote and the comic tone of "Why I Live at the P.O." are so incredibly different that the chances the quote came from that story are small. It could be Welty's line from a different story, though.
