Loved him as Shane on the Shield, Boyd on Justified, and now Lee in Red Dirt. Sorry, all I just had to say it, when I watched this movie.
BTW this movie had me wanting to yell at the screen at the end. I mean come on go, get in the truck, get out of the small town, see the world, & be happy.
I always cheer for the bad guy!
Beyond Walton Goggins many physical attributes was his ability in Red Dirt to bring a genuine masculine intensity and emotion to many of his scenes.
I was entirely sold on the character of Lee, which is all down to the way Walton played him. Red Dirt would not have been nearly as powerful without a believable Lee.
Agree with all that you said. This was the movie that me love Walton Goggins. The movie has some beautiful moments and a great southern gothic feel to it, but it is by no means a "great" movie. The way Lee is played by Walton is what makes the movie for me. He is so expressive and genuine in his performance.
