Last shot on Val

That last shot packed a real wallop, where he's letting the emotion show. It struck me as remarkably similar to the shot of Benicio del Toro in "Traffic," where he's driving away after his partner's been killed. *Excellent* acting! I live for great shots like that. Kudos, gentlemen.

That was Val at his best

Uh-huh, those last words he uttered, seemed liked the hardest thing the character in the film ever had to say...pretty effing moving.

he actually showed love to joe. it was amazing

reply

I think it was less love for his son, but more regret for his shortcomings as a parent being a contributing factor to his son's delinquency.

yeah, i'd have to say it's both regret and love. even our emotions have shades of grey.

reply

I think it was regret that he never let his son know he loved him.

How much of Val is in this movie? I like watching Val in movies so how about this movie?

reply

he's in it relatively a lot. less than half the movie I think, but he's in it enough.

Guilt.

Honestly I don't remember much about this film but that scene stuck with me for sure
