I don't get the scene right at the start with all the cars...

Ok, so this movie was on TV the other night and I tune in close to the beginning. I see a bunch of crazy drivers going around what looks like a cul-de-sac at high speeds, nearly crashing into each other. One guy then gets out of his car and looks pissed off, and utters some obscenity as he slams the door shut. They all walk into a house carrying some beer. Can anyone explain what was going on in this scene? It was really strange.
