Mickey Rourke does an Irish accent better than Spacey

If you've ever seen Mickey Rourke portray Martin Fallon as an IRA terrorist in A Prayer for the Dying (1987) you'll see how much better an American can learn an authentic Northern Irish accent than Kevin Spacey's weird portrayal of a Martin Cahill (The General) clone as is so thinly produced here. Pity. Spacey's got Irish blood, hasn't he? He should have made a greater effort to get it right here. Or possibly Farrell should have taken him under his wing, but he might have been too grateful to Spacey for getting him the role to have put in his two pence and possibly offending the guy.

Spaceys accent has tinges of English and Irish. Bit of scouse even. He's a great actor but wasn't the best choice for an Irish man. Should have picked an Irish actor. Plenty of top notch Irish actors but he was clearly picked for his star status
