Another Unholy Abomination of Anime
God. Dear God. This was a travesty.
I'm a bit astounded to see how many people love this thing. It really doesn't make any sense. It's also incredibly stale in the plot department - there's a bit too much crossover with the equally nauseating Macross II (100s of years in future of original, revisiting and reactivating old computer, Eve's watered down look is a dead ringer for Ishtar).
The new ADV dub is sad. The thing is infantile enough in Japanese without it being compounded with a lifeless dub. The battles are rediculously random, the plot meanders about, and the characters are all from central casting (Sean is a complete ripoff of Char's look from Z Gundam).
Megazone 23 Part I was a classic, but II and III pile on the cliches.
I will say that the Wachowski Brothers should be writing some seriously big royalty checks to the creators of the Megazone trilogy, because there are some conspicous parallels between the stories.
