I don't know why, but I could wager a guess: I have heard that she vehemently denies believing in the Devil. So perhaps promoting this film went against her beliefs.

But I myself feel like saying "Uh, Winona, this is your job . It has nothing to do with your beliefs."

Is it not true that Winona almost never does publicity?

On her trivia page is says that as of 2000, she had only been seen on 2 talk shows.

Also, this film was awful so I'm sure she wasn't proud of it.

Because it sat on the shelf for two years, and then was given a release that made it clear no-one cared if the movie was successful. So why bother? Plus, she'd move on to the other 3-4 films she'd made in the interim.
