Awful

Sorry to voice a dissenting opinion, but I thought this movie was awful. I watched it because I respect the work of Goldwyn, Howard, and Feore -- unfortunately, I was not impressed.

The plotline came across like a Stephen King rip-off. The characters were trite archetypes (A priest, a lawyer, and a cop? Really?). The dialogue, especially in the scenes involving the adult characters, was thin and amateur. The "twists" were dumb and predictable. Almost none of the story was believable. I half suspected this was a script written as a final project for some film class.

There was much that could have been done with the theme of guilt but I finished the film very disappointed.

I disagree. I only watched the last half, but the suspense and drama involved was excellent. Sure, they were archetypes, but very interesting ones and the ending threw me off! The rainy atmosphere added to their dark existences.
I enjoyed the portion I saw on IFC, I just wish it would air again so I can see what the tape was all about.

I enjoyed it too! Very good quality thriller. I thought the plot lines intertwined nicely with possibilities. I watched it twice and still feel that way. I'm the world's most critical plot sniffer...so you lose this one.

captured my thoughts perfectly; and underscored what i hate about stephen king-- sooo hackneyed, it reflected badly on the performannces/actors.
