If I had to sum up this film in one word, I would say-CLUMSY!This is definitely one of the weakest animations I have seen in a long time. The songs were great, some of the animation was passable and the singing, but for me that was about it. The humour was grotesque, and an insult for a child. The disneyfied animals added nothing to the film, and there were a number of dodgy accents among the voice cast. I also hated most of the plot changes, namely the unneccessary romance between the Prince and Tuptim, as that distracted us from the focus of the story, the relationship of Anna and the king. The kralahome had some great lines, but why was he evil? And why change the ending, when the ending to the original was so poignant? There's nothing else to say really, other than clumsy and disappointing, compared to the stunning original, whose main attraction was the career-best performance of Yul Brynner. If you want a great animation, based on a true story, watch the Easter Story Keepers, which I gave a 10, for originality, heart and deep understanding of the subject matter. 5/10 for King and I, I'm afraid!
