I watched this movie a while back and loved it, but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I realised how clever it was.
The army film - Simplex Complex, is actually a beautifully made parody of Bergman's Seventh Seal.
It'll need a rewatch to see what else I can find...
I loved "Simplex Complex," for both its Bergman references and its vintage feel. It was very hilarious seeing a veteran with herpes at the end of the film who could have been saved by the message.
In fact, all of the faux films in this mockumentary are movies I'd love to see. This is a well-made indie with great cameos and a real appreciation for the works of Roger Corman (speaking of great cameos). 7/10 stars from me.
