jean smart was brilliant

I have seen this movie at least 20 times and although it was a good movie, I caught myself stating that Jean Smart deserved an oscar nomination as Sarah Polley's mother. Her big scene has to rank as the one of the greatest scenes I have seen in film. I see alot of movies so I am not just making a random observation. She delivers one of the best speeches on younger woman- older man relationships. Her last line is priceless " Mrs. Sloan, I'm Mrs. Sloan.

You want to know how much screen time Jean Smart has and what her character is about ?

reply

I can't tell you how much I agree...I've been a fan of her for about 3 weeks and I first saw this movie today, and I was blown away by that scene. She's amazing.

I really love her in the fortune cookie scene.

What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?

Jean Smart rules!

True!! Jean Smart was amazing in this movie! I really thought she was going to get an Oscar nomination for that brilliant scene where she dresses down her daughter's older lover.
