Great scripts-terrible acting

Does anyone else think that the regulars of this show is bad actors. I mean they can't even fake emotions. I find this very enoying. Luckily the scripts are brilliant and thats the only reason I'm a fan. I just can't understand why they chose to use these actors when many of bi-roles from episode to episode is that much better.

reply

I didn't. I liked them, especially Roger Cross, he was brilliant.

I have to agree with you partially. The actor who played Joshua was pretty wooden.I'm glad a brother got a major role in a sci-fi series but I wish they had picked someone with more dramatic range.

But I also must say that many of the dram series I have been sampling lately are insufferable! The acting across the board has been absolutely atrocious. In addition the actors in many of these present shows are absolutely vain. They are good looking people who know they are good looking and assume sub-standard acting will get them by because they are pleasing to look at.This is rampant in the shows I've sampled of late. So comparing First Wave to the nonsense being produced now I would say the acting is pretty decent!

I liked the way Roger acted out Joshua, he was this totally unpredictable enigmatic guy that looked always threatening yet could help Cade out, and you never knew what his motives were until the end of season 3. He was always interesting.

reply

Actually I have to agree with you.I have been watching the series again and just forgot how much I really enjoy the series and the character Joshua. I Just finished with The Purge episode which was an all Gua episode.Cade Foster didn't even appear in this one.I must say that Cross does have the charisma to carry the role of an alien warrior who has doubts about the course of leadership of his people and the invasion plans.Yeah, you're right!

Most of them seemed decent to me. Sebastian Spence, however, couldn't act his way out of a paper bug, but my god, he was hot. And Traci Lords was the beginning of the end of the show (more because of the adding of unnecessary characters to improve ratings than her acting ability), IMHO.

reply

I thought Spence and Lords were okay, but the best acting was definitely bone by Roger and Rob. Crazy Eddie was a great character and very well acted.

These days on tv there is not much to see during the week and i must say first wave was very good. But i want to ask all of yu if you do have the song in wav or mp3 of the film theme. Can't find it.

I have no idea where you could find such stuff.

I also liked Joshua and he's not the reason why I get bored. I actually was really into this show before season three. The show kinda became childish after that. If you remember the episode in the desert with all the buss' - all I could think off was that it reminded me of those bad Indiana Jones tv-movies or the television show.

reply

*beep* you, Spence was the man

reply

It wasn't great, but you have to give Spence some credit because he was acting for over 85-90% of each episode, it's been a while but I can't recall there being many scenes that he wasn't in on. It couldn't have been easy.

reply

Yeah I guess you're right, but Traci Lords (who played Jordan Radcliff) is a terrible actor. And so is many of the actors which are given both small and big.
