Why would Universal disown this film...?

I understand it sat on the shelf with them for awhile, but why would they "disown" it like the trivia section of imdb says...?

I was gonna ask the same thing. I didn't think it was that bad and i've seen a lot more movies worse than this.

i just watched this on my local "on demand" station and it was a Universal release on my version. had the logo at the beginning and "universal pictures presents" during the opening credits.

wonder if they kept the rights for the tv/cable airings or something.

reply

I understand with their dissatisfaction. but this company made major worse film then this.

look for yourself.

It must be their biggest flop based on the reception compared to the budget and talent they had it.

the studios wanted 'rocky' or 'Rambo' instead of 'D TOX'

same as they want bale as batman instead of 'the machinist'

I don't understand why they buried the film either. It wasn't a masterpiece, but I still thought it was pretty good. Certainly better than some of the garbage they've released in theaters.

I always wondered the same thing than the OP! There are worst movies than this one...

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

At a rating 5, I too did not go in expecting a brilliant film but this was fairly entertaining popcorn flick...storywise definitely a 5 (average) but add Stallone, it's close to a 6 for me.
