What is it that is just so great about this anime?

I adore this anime. I love it so much that throughout my life all I ever owned cable for was because Cartoon Network was airing new episodes of them. Only reason I ever owned a TV in fact!

Ryo is my favorite...only because of his staunch leadership and his ability to sacrifice everything he has for what everyone else has.

As far as the series is concerned...there are so many admirable moments, it makes the mundane or annoying moments (pretty much anything containing that little twit Yuli) all but forgotten.

I will start off by saying I hate Yuli and find Mia barely tolerable at times...when the camera pans to them for them to consistantly state the obvious...it's so annoying...I think I'll rip the episodes and cut it out of them. Some of the animation sequences are a bit mockable...such as the time in the volcano the fight between Anubis and Ryo when Ryo finally finishes him off with a criss cross form...he yells 'YAH!' and his face just looks...odd. But I guess that is Anime for you.

Either way this was one of the last if not THE last good anime of our day...as with the 90's brought on DBZ...At least Ronin Warriors had a formidable plot to it's consistant fighting.

I was standing in an anime shop while they were playing Saint Seiya & a guy commented that he finally saw what people meant when they complained this title blatantly stole ideas from Saint Seiya.
This one had some good actors, but Seiya is much better.

they had the ancient guy with the cool staff and anubis was the man. kind of wish the ending was better, but was a great series. my favorite of the series was the anubis battle to free kira where he sacrificed himself.

Nothing!

I loved it as a kid, and I rewatched years ago, and finally again this month and really it is just bad.

It could have been, the base idea is pretty cool, but the way it is played is pretty lame, we feel that there was no real plan, everything was just done as they made more episodes, ex:

- In the beginning no one knows who that monk is, but in like 4 minutes, he somehow became their master and all look up to him...
- Or White Blaze, who couldn't do anything against one Soldier of Doom in the first episode (who by the way had some powers then...) and towards the end he can deal with small legion.
- Let's no talk about Arago, who got defeated 2 times and came back again with no upgrade but new characters dropped from who knows where, to get defeated again. When is he coming back?
- Talking about that, Khaos defeated Arago with his full armor by himself, but in the "present" the guys with 5 armors can't do a thing... ok so much for these armors being any good.

What they did good was Shiten, we could very early on see him changing and coming to the other side, it was not just dropped in like the rest (though the first few episodes depict him differently but let's forget about that to find something good)
