magrat's voice is terrible!!!

okay so i know magrat is meant to be a romantic, slightly ditsy, and a parady of the 'modern-witch', but her voice in this made her sound like she couldn't string two words together. why such slow speach? they made her sound like a complete numbskull. this is the only thing that pissed me off about the whole movie.

can't talk. eating brains

if you read the book, you'll learn that magrat's voice wasn't meant to be good- kinda like fran dresher's The Nanny, only more annoying- so the voice actress went for that. actually, the one who did find her voice pleasing was her boyfriend and soon to be husband The Fool/Verance II

The funny thing is Magrat is the only character with the correct accent. Lancre is meant to represent Lancaster and the people there have a unique accent (being from the US I never noticed a difference until an online Discworld fan from Lancashire pointed out this fact). And Jane Horrocks (Magrat) is the only cast member from Lancashire so her accent is the most accurate to the book.

Her laugh is kinda funny though.

It's been a couple of years since I've seen this movie, but I do remember Granny and Nanny sounding exactly the way I'd imagined them sounding.

Magrat didn't sound the way I'd imagined, this is true. But then there were never any regionalisms in her written speech patterns, I'd always imagined her as sounding... less provincial, I guess.
