Judges okay a 5 word question for 4 word answer?

Tonight in the Lotsa "luck" category, the answer was, "Dirty Harry tells a punk he's got to ask himself this 4-word question". The player Eli said, What is, "do you feel lucky, punk"? The judges okayed this answer. A few things to point out here:
The clue asked for 4 words and the player gave 5.
The correct response should be, "What is, 'do I feel lucky'"?, so it's the wrong number AND an inaccurate quote. Note, the full correct quote is, "you gotta ask yourself a question. 'Do I feel lucky?' Well do ya, punk?"
3. So he is judged correct on an inaccurate quote with the wrong number of words in it. Am I nit-picking here? I don't think so, in light of how strict the judges usually are regarding similar clues. I know the player didn't win anyway, but still. Any thoughts?

I was surprised that he was credited too. Since the response was a question, he didn't have to phrase it as one. The player said "you", but Alex said that it was either "Do you feel lucky?" or "Do I feel lucky?" I don't recall Harry ever asking if he himself felt lucky.

Annoying the world since 1960!

I didn't think of that. He could have just said, "Do I feel lucky?" I get that they could let the wrong pronoun slide, but adding "punk" to it is the equivalent of giving the correct last name and incorrect first name. Oh well.

Ever have one of those jeopardys where you just know after the commercial they are going to have a scoring change? This was one of those occasions, but it never happened. Weird answer. Even weirder no call from the refs.

His answer was incorrect. The quote is "You've got to ask yourself one question. 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

So the word "punk" is not a part of the question.

reply

Yep, you're completely correct on both counts.

I can't believe the judges let that stand.

The judges are punks.

reply

Also, I think the contestant originally said "Do you feel lucky?" which obviously is a question and shouldn't require the "What is?"

happens on the show much too often lately

reply

They weren't looking for a verbatim quote, just the question to the answer.

So if the contestant was quoting the line, he'd have said "I".
