How many adults watched this?

How many adults watched this, and I mean of your own free will. Without kids screaming and crying for you to see it. How many adults saw this in the theater or video store and said "I think I want to watch that." I did.

I did too - and i thought it was brilliant! I liked the fact that theres a lot of subtle lines aimed at the adult audience - how many kids laughed at 'this velvet portrait of Elvis, i didn't really want it...'? Not many i bet. Great fun.

reply

Yeah, I thought it was hilarious. I was laughing myself silly when I watched it.

I wanted to watch this for myself because i think Oscar is philosophically interesting. If what is good in Sesame Street is bad in Grouchland, then people will be pleased by being "wronged", in which case the person who wronged them would be wronged by their treatment, so it would be right because it's wrong because... and so on. This aspect was explored in the TV series, but not in the film, which i found slightly disappointing but not exactly surprising, as it's aimed at pre-school children. However, it could work as an introduction to philosophy for small children. I do recognise that this is a very silly reason for wanting to watch this. Actually, my children liked it too, so it was worth seeing as it turned out.

I did, don't have any kids yet but I love Henson stuff. Am I the only one who thinks that this looks pretty much like a remake of Labyrinth???

reply
