Genuinely broke my heart...

I am a very serious horror fan and have watched every "disturbing" movie that I have been able to get my hands on. It's very rare that I come across a list of frightening/disturbing movies that contains one which I have not seen; I have been actively pursuing them for most of my adult life.

I saw this movie a couple of years ago on the internet and I have been recommending it to every horror fan I have come in contact with ever since. Not everyone who has seen it agrees with me. Some find it too slow or simply too mild. It doesn't pack a punch for everyone. Some of my favorite horror movie reviewers completely blew it off as a failure even as a compelling dramatic short.

For me, this was the most horrific movie I have ever seen, at only 25 minutes long. Yes, I have seen gorier. Yes, I have seen more convincing effects. Yes I have seen things which probably should have disturbed me more. But never have I seen horror delivered with more solemnity than it is in Cutting Moments. My heart broke in two for the female lead. I couldn't close my eyes for weeks after this movie without reliving the final 10 minutes of the film. I cannot say for sure why it is that Cutting Moments struck me the way it did, but it produced feelings in my soul that Cannibal Holocaust, Irreversible, Martyrs, etc. never could.

My recommendation is to watch it without expectations and see if you are as surprised as I was by the horror of everyday evil.
