Running through tripwires?

The film deserves some credit for aspects that were gritty and entertaining, but come on- running through a series of damned tripwires triggering cascades of waist-high explosives? And Wilson lived?

In the end though, as with most Hollywooden films, the script and- typically- the ending was clichéd and childish.

In a film full of ridiculous scenes, that was one of the worst. No one would've survived that onslaught, the shockwaves alone would've rattled your insides to paste and the subsequent debris and shrapnel, (from assorted bits of metal that were lying around), would've torn you to shreds.
To their credit, at least they got the positioning of the PROM-1s right, well right up until they started interesecting three different wires at once, but in regards to their detoniation-position at the outside of the narrow road between the factories.

Agreed.
I actually rate it the second worst scene in the film. #1 being the shootdown itself with the Wile E. Coyote ACME guided missile.

I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!

Aw, come on... That scene was awesome! I know its not realistic, but it sure is great thrill ride.
The worst scene is the final shootout. I was shocked how corny it was.

See what I did there?

Stupid and unrealistic is stupid and unrealistic and had no place in a serious film.

There's a huge difference between unrealistic or not technically accurate, and A-Team style ridiculousness. Compared to the final showdown the SAM scene is quite realistic.
The trip wire scene is also much more unrealistic than the SAM scene. As said before; There is no way he would have survived that.

I am not trying to be rude but you clearly have no clue about what is or is not realistic about real world Surface to Air Missiles.

Wile E. Coyote's ACME Guided Missiles he uses to try and get the Roadrunner is more realistic that that scene.
It is 100% completely over the top ridiculous.
It is absolutely moronically stupid.

Unrealistic missiles are one thing. Dodging bullets and explosions matrix style is another.

Seriously man, it's graet and all that you served, but take it easy about the technical stuff. I've seen you ragging on the film in multiple threads, acting like this was some sort of travesty against military protocol and specs.
Anyone with a reasonable working knowledge of armaments knows the missile would have burnt out long before the plane was shot down, but it was still a decent scene.
I'd like to think that the whole thing played out slower than if it was in real time, much like how at the moment of impact everything froze. The entire thing was like a car crash, which yes, I HAVE been in and everything just becomes hyper-realized: your entire senses take in every bit of motion, sound, impact, and situational awareness around you. It really feels like slow motion because your brain in that moment is taking in huge amounts of data.

Regardless, it's a great fun film, and *gasp* I actually became aware of the Bosnian conflict because of this. I actually read up on it afterwards, and frankly short of some of the action tropes and grave mistakes (like casually disposing of water bottles and sitting directly on top of high ridges to make calls), I appreciate the story execution--it wasn't typical Hollywood story beats. The mass graves, the Ha? war zone with the rebels, two turned-down rescues, there was plenty of original stuff here.

Quit hating on people who like the film and aren't in the need to know about every technical military detail. It's a competent film, and frankly had some real drama versus most lone-survivor tales.
