Seriously man, it's graet and all that you served, but take it easy about the technical stuff. I've seen you ragging on the film in multiple threads, acting like this was some sort of travesty against military protocol and specs.
Anyone with a reasonable working knowledge of armaments knows the missile would have burnt out long before the plane was shot down, but it was still a decent scene.
I'd like to think that the whole thing played out slower than if it was in real time, much like how at the moment of impact everything froze. The entire thing was like a car crash, which yes, I HAVE been in and everything just becomes hyper-realized: your entire senses take in every bit of motion, sound, impact, and situational awareness around you. It really feels like slow motion because your brain in that moment is taking in huge amounts of data.
Regardless, it's a great fun film, and *gasp* I actually became aware of the Bosnian conflict because of this. I actually read up on it afterwards, and frankly short of some of the action tropes and grave mistakes (like casually disposing of water bottles and sitting directly on top of high ridges to make calls), I appreciate the story execution--it wasn't typical Hollywood story beats. The mass graves, the Ha? war zone with the rebels, two turned-down rescues, there was plenty of original stuff here.
Quit hating on people who like the film and aren't in the need to know about every technical military detail. It's a competent film, and frankly had some real drama versus most lone-survivor tales.
