Unearthed Films - Are the 'banned' claims some pathetic marketing?

The only press release I've seen about this movie being "banned" is on the Unearthed website. ALL OTHER WEBSITES QUOTE UNEARTHED.COM. If the only proof about this "ban" is on their site, I have to imagine this is a really pathetic attempt to gain a buzz. If it is, I'll actually refrain from buying this even though I wanted too. I don't mind marketing as it's part of the industry, but when you pull *beep* like that it's really pathetic.

To make it even worse, they have another *beep* stupid claim that Canada might not let it in?? The #1 retailer has already started pre-orders.

If I hadn't already seen Aftermath I'd assume that the movie was *beep* and as a result this was their only selling point

i dont think its really banned but a lot of us retailers refuse to carry it

That kind of thing is standard for extreme cinema. Make Them Die Slowly [Cannibal Ferox] was advertised as "Banned in 31 Countries!" but have you ever seen a list? NO! because they made it up.

It's the same thing with the movie Island of Death being banned in so many counties. I don't doubt that its banned in some places, like Iran but, everywhere else its just a lack of a distributor or just for publicity. It is available on Netflix.

A lot of these films are or were banned in the UK. Certainly in their uncut forms so I don't think it's all hyperbole.

I know that BEST BUY had them all taken off the shelves after they realized what they were carrying.

The Aftermath/Genesis DVD is one of the best titles available from Unearthed Films, and i can easily see how Aftermath could be banned; it's nothing that would sicken a seasoned fan of exploitation cinema, but your average Jane & Joe would most likely be severely disgusted.

Don't buy it because of the hype. Buy it because Ignacio Cerda is an amazing, amazing director. Aftermath/Genesis just ooze pure cinematic power.

Wasn't this movie banned in Australia (or New Zealand?)?
