Carrie and Big

What attracted them to each other? I can't think of any meaningful, interesting conversation they ever had...

In a way it makes sense that two people so void of any real personality would enjoy each others company, but still I can’t help but wonder every time I watch them together… would each of them be able to articulate what they liked about the other person if asked?

I guess I am more interested in what Carrie saw in Big – not that she had much to offer herself, but mainly because she was the one who was so hopelessly in love with him while he would mostly remain sort of mildly affectionate most of the time.

I always thought that what Carrie found the most interesting about Big was his lack of interest in her (and vice versa...Aiden made Big crazy).

When finally together (ie the beginning of the first movie) Big and Carrie seemed to have all of the charisma of a photo from a Lands End catalogue. Only when thier relationship was on the rocks did these two have a relationship that crackled...which is why they were always crashing right back on the same old boulders.

I do agree with this, unfortunately. I think you can look at Carrie with Aidan and resisting the safe, logical choice because she did enjoy the drama and the uncertainty of Big's feelings.

But I didn't mind they got together, as I think they set up they had a friendship where they could talk and joke with each other and maybe as their libidos slowed down they realized they just enjoyed each other's company.

I do agree in the movie they did lack chemistry and seemed like friends. I think that's why Big got cold feet--either because he missed the drama and/or thought he should create some.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.
