I am going to buy the Castle of Cagliostro and I was wondering if I am going to miss out if I don't watch the TV series first.

Everything in the Lupin franchise is standalone, the only thing that connects everything up is the five main characters and four of them stealing stuff and one chasing them.

not missing much the only film that connects to the series is return of pycal cos he was a bad guy from season 1
