A Live Action Movie Version

If they make a live action version, don't butcher it, don't half-ass it, don't make it into a cheap shill, and remind us how sweet the show is.

Ryan Reynolds would make a good Lupin.

A good Zenigata might be Kevin Weissman (Marshall Flinkman on Alias).

Fujiko should be someone hot, but not an A-Lister.

Goemon should be a Japanese actor.

And no bullet time.

reply

Carmen Electra might make a good Fujiko, but she's too well known.
As I heard from another post, Bruce Campbell might also make a kickin' Zenegata. I'm still rooting for Ryan Reynolds for Lupin. He has the looks, the snarky attitude, the animal magnetism, and the on-screen charisma.

reply

And why not a Japanese girl as the name Fujiko suggests?
Personally I would put my money to see this woman in that role:

closest thing I've ever seen to a living anime character!

Does anybody want to chime in at all? If you don't care, then say so.

Well, here's the poster! That Lupin is ok, but I was hopin' for Jim Carrey... He would be perfect.

reply

That's friggin' awesome! I was holding out for Bruce C as Lupin but hey, he's in...

(on edit, that image is from 2004 or something like that... Probably fake as the show doesn't appear on any of those actor's lists...)

I got sucked in too...

"Oh my God, what happened?" "I don't know man, I just got here myself..." - Jim Goose

reply

Jason Lee as Luin???? WTF??? R U HIGH?! He lacks Lupin's natural animal magnetism. Granted, Jason Lee could play him. He just needs to shape up. I saw his bare chest in Dogma. Nnno.

reply

wait... so is that real or did someone make it???????

reply

Someone made it, obviously. Now if only I had the Photoshop know-how to do that. Oh, and Photoshop.

They may be making one that's due to come out 2009. I was going to say that French robber from Ocean's 12, but Ryan Reynolds is perfect. Just dye his hair black and it's as if they were twins. He's also super funny and this role would call for a funny guy who coul also do some bada$$ stunts.

"...And such might have been but for you, dearest, loveliest Elizabeth."

Is this thing on the level? Looks more like a homemade to me; Jason Lee as Lupin???? Hardly goofy nor slender enough. Jim Carrey or, in a pinch, David Tennant. Hugh Jackman may qualify as Jigen, but Donnie Yen is Chinese. Yusuke Iseya much better choice.

reply

Lupin-Ryan Reynolds
Zenigata-Bruce Campbell
Goemon-Donnie Yen
Jigen-Hugh Jackman
Fujiko- possibly-Jennifer Tilly or someone like her but younger.

i'd love a lupin live action film but it won't ever happen since someone has mentioned the franchise wasn't really popular here. very sad.

on the subject of a what if casting, i'll concur with the ryan reynolds suggestion.

lupin the 3rd should be up there with cowboy bebop imo

reply

Lupin: Jim Carrey...who else?

Jigen: A bearded, gruffy Timothy Dalton

Goemon: Yusuke Iseya, who I think was made for the role

Fujiko: soooo appropriate casting of the beautiful and talented Adult actress and Internet Goddess Asia Carrera.

take a look!!!

Inspector Zenigata: I was the first to suggest him in the role yearly 5 years ago! Bruce Campbell and NOBODY ELSE!

let's buy some film and get-a-goin'!!

reply

Ryan Reynolds - face is too serious. Lupin is a goofball who like to be silly.

Kevin Weissman - excellent choice!!!! If B. Campbell is too busy...

I've devoted a lot of thought to this . . .

First of all, Fujiko Mine. Definitely Jamie Chung. (The Hangover Parts II and III and the only redeeming quality of the Dragonball movie.)

Inspector Zenigata. Kurtwood Smith. a.k.a. Red Foreman from "That 70's Show." Need I say more?

Those are the two choices I'm the most confident about.

For Jigen, I'm thinking Shane West. I know he's mainly known for chick flicks (if at all), but I'm thinking about him as the American outsider with the itchy trigger finger in "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."

I know he's Taiwanese, not Japanese, but remember how much tail Jay Chou kicked in "The Green Hornet"? Goemon.

(Side Note: I know most of these movies I'm listing aren't "good" by any stretch of the imagination, but bear with me. It's not these actors' faults.)

Lupin's tricky, because he has to be believable a suave master thief, but also a goofball who's occassionally accident-prone. So George Clooney won't quite work, and Rowan Atkinson won't quite, either. Looking to the up-and-comers on SNL, and Taran Killam might be able to pull off a good Lupin. Steve Howey from the live-action DOA movie also comes to mind, but really I'd just spread the net as wide as I could and hope for some newcomer who manages to nail the role.

Peter Wingfield (Methos from the Highlander TV series) would make a good Lupin. :)

The Cast should be Asian
Lupin - John Cho( I know must people think of him as the Milf Guy or Harold Lee but hes actually a really good actor),Aaron Yoo, or Jon Foo(In Bangkok Revenge he kind of reminded me of Lupin

Jigen - Ian Anthony Dale

Goeman - Byung Hun Lee or Will Yun Lee

Fujiko - Keiko Kitagawa or Jamie Chung would work

Zenigata - Ken Watanabe or Hiroyuki Sanada
