If you made a lupin anime

If you made a Lupin tv special, considering the characters act very different and look very different in different lupin anime, what would your lupin anime be like? also.. some specials are more humorous or family friendly and some are more dark or violent. In your lupin anime (tv special, movie, series etc). what would it be like, what would the animation style be, how would the characters act or look like? who would do voice acting for the characters?

Back in the original manga, continuity was very loose. Therefore, Fujiko would be a completely different woman each adventure and Goemon and Jigen would alternate between being Lupin's accomplices and actively trying to kill him.

Also, my favorite moments in the anime have always been when Lupin and "Pops" find themselves forced to team up.

So my perfect Lupin story would have a more consistent thread, but would have enough tension between all five main characters that the alliances beteen Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko, and Zenigata were constantly shifting, with Lupin working with each of them at some point and working against each one of them at others. (i.e. Goemon attacking Lupin and Jigen while they're working together, then having Jigen and Lupin have a falling out but Goemon switching over to Lupin's side.) Of course, this would work best for another prequel/origins story, or at least a story early in their careers where the gang's dynamic isn't so firmly cemented yet.

As for the voice acting, I can't speak much for seiyuu, but my favorite English cast for the characters would have to be Tony Oliver et al. from the Geneon cast. If I were to assemble my own star-studded dub cast, I'd go with H. Jon Benjamin for Lupin (watch him go from smooth to snarky to bumbling on "Archer"), Kelly Hu for Fujiko (does a lot of voice work, has a super sexy voice, and just the slightest hint of an accent), and Kurtwood Smith as Zenigata (Red Foreman from "That 70's Show". Need I say more?) Not sure about Jigen, but I'm leaning towards James Caan because he'll do voice work when it suits him and he has that great old school mobster voice from cutting his teeth on "The Godfather." Also not sure about Goemon.

That sounds great!

I think my Lupin story would have a darker and more realistic tone than most Lupin animations. (It would probably be like Island of assassins meets the first series meets the godfather meets taken meets liscence to kill). It would focus more on Zenigata for the first half of the movie and then Lupin in the second half, and at first it would make Zenigata look more heroic and it would seem like the whole movie would be mainly about Zenigata tracking down Lupin. Then later, it would show more of Lupin and he would seem more like his usual self instead of some random criminal. The bad guys would be more evil than usual (shooting hostages, shooting Jigen in the shoulder, kidnapping Fujiko and electrocuting her with a tazer) and even though she doesn't die, Lupin would get angry and want revenge, and he would track them down and shoot them. Lupin would act like the father in "Taken" and sort of snap and go on a rampage. it would have Bob Bergen as the voice of Lupin. and believe it or not I actually like how Lupin sounds in the fuma conspiracy. For Goemon, Christian Bale (no batman voice though), for Jigen (Richard Epcar)from the red jacket series, for Fujiko, same red jacket series voice, and for Zenigata, Bruce Campbell. In short, it would be about the villains messing with Lupin and his friends, causing Lupin to snap and get revenge. No, it's not like Lupin to do that but Lupin constantly changes throughout the franchise.

Psychotic, vengeful Lupin isn't too far from the Lupin in some of the Monkey Punch stories, but IMO, if it doesn't have some whacky comic relief in there somewhere, it isn't Lupin. Like the idea of a scarier villian, and I'm always for Pops getting more screentime.

Wasn't it Robin Robertson rather than Bob Bergen in Fuma Conspiracy? The voice acting in that one kinda made me cringe. Can't argue with Richard Epcar and Michelle Ruff as Jigen and Fujiko. That's part of the reason I can't wait for the Woman Called Fujiko Mine dub, even though it will be weird to adjust to Epcar playing Pops instead of Jigen.

Which jacket would you have Lupin wear? I'd try to show that he switches from green jacket to red jacket to pink jacket the same as any other person picking out a different outfit every day.

I think it would show Lupin in a photograph wearing a green jacket. and in a flashback showing Lupin running from police, it would show him wearing a pink jacket. In most of the movie,he would wear a red jacket though. As for comedy, I think it would be inevitable with Zenigata. Also, I didn't mean that Bob Bergen did the voice for Lupin in Fuma, but I meant that I like the voice acting for Lupin in Fuma, although many people don't. I think it just sounded too different for lots of people. I think my main choice for Lupin would be Bob Bergen though.
I think for the main theme, I would use the 1979 version of the lupin theme from Secret of Mamo.

For the main theme, I'd get a big orchestral arrangement based on the '77 theme. Give it a more contemporary, Hollywood soundtrack sound. Same thing with all of the Yuji Ohno cues. Maybe get someone else to arrange them to give them all a more contemporary feel.

As for animation style, I love the old-school quality of the red jacket series. I'd say make the art style as retro as possible, but with much smoother animation. Kind of a throwback to the 70's, but still with a modern flair rather than just "being bad on purpose."

i know there was the woman called fujiko mine ,but it was never called part 4 like red and pink jacket series were called part 2 and 3, and iv'e always imagined a fouth series with the same animation of the older series. like your idea of smoother animation, but same old school art style. one great thing about lupin III is that the style changes drastically in each animation.

BTW

I recently read the original manga and you were right. the lupin portrayed there is difinetely like the one i was imagining for my idea of a lupin movie.
