Well Hurricane Gundam got defeated by Zeus Gundam, and then before the Burning Gundam fought the Cobra Gundam, on a blimp it said that Rose Gundam defeated Hurricane Gundam for 2 points. Gundams can come back to fight after losing?
shareYes it's on a points system as you said. You don't need to go undefeated, just win enough matches to get the battle royal. You couldn't lose before the tournament though, which is why there was an issue about Chapman and Michelo. Noone seems to care that George lost to Chapman before though.
shareThey didn't care about George losing to Chapman because the Gundams are only disqualified if their heads are destroyed, which Rose Gundam's clearly wasn't.
shareNot to mention the fact that Neo Italy had already reported Michelo for his criminal activities, causing him to be permanently disqualified from the tournament, and Chapman was reported as deceased by both his AND Neo Japan's governments.
